My name is Emma. It is my pleasure to write this unsolicited letter of recommendation for Richard Fantham and Radius Building.
Richard was the primary building contractor for a new architectural build on a 10-acre lifestyle block in North Canterbury. I had no prior relationship with Richard, who was recommend to me.
After I purchased the 10-acre block, initially I met with three other group home building companies and I just wasn’t impressed with any of the companies or the design concepts. When I met with Richard, I was immediately impressed with his approach and felt instantly comfortable. Richard made the entire design and build process very easy and stress-free. Richard engaged an Architect, Joe Perkinson from Joseph David Architecture Ltd who I met with initially and he designed a beautiful home that met my requirements from the initial design concept. This design process was incredibly straight forward and Joe was lovely to deal with.
Throughout the build, Richard and the Radius building team were invaluable and I am extremely pleased with the final result. If I had to isolate one thing, the quality of the build has been amazing, the communication has been great and we quickly developed a good working relationship from end to end across Richard’s building team and all his chosen subcontractors. You hear of people pulling their hair out at the end of a building process, it just wasn’t like that for me.
Specifically, I would give Richard and the building team top marks in the following areas.
Quality of work performed. The quality of work done was consistently top notch. Richard used subcontractors who were knowledgeable, skilled, and competent in their respective trades. They were conscientious about following project specifications, and their work product was of a very high standard.
Quality of building team and work crews. All of the Radius building crew were professional, reliable, courteous, and respectful. They had good work habits, strong health and safety, and emphasised getting the job done right rather than doing it fast. Their pride in their work was evident. They tidied up at the end of each workday. I also found them to be trustworthy, and I felt comfortable with all of the workmen. Gary the foreman on the job was incredible and helped me a lot with building and design aspects. The whole team are just fundamentally good people that give a damn about the job and it really comes through. The quality of the build was exceptional.
Project management and coordination. Richard was knowledgeable about all aspects of the rural build, and he remained closely involved in overseeing the project from start to finish. His excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and commitment to follow-through are assets which enabled him to juggle the details involved in our build without missing a beat. Richard’s s familiarity with building codes and dealing with local Council’s facilitated a smooth and hassle-free process when it came to building permits and inspection on a rural build with varying components.
Responsiveness to homeowner’s needs and concerns. Richard’s commitment to homeowner satisfaction was evident in his actions. His service orientation is truly described by the motto: “The homeowner’s needs come first. I always felt well looked after.
Value for Money. In his proposal, Richard gave a clear breakdown of costs for each facet of the project. His contract was just as detailed in describing the work to be done and the itemised costs. Same with the change variation orders. When the project was completed, all the work was done as described and agreed upon, and there were no hidden costs, extra expenses or unpleasant surprises. As a homeowner and customer, I felt Richard delivered exactly what he had promised, at the agreed upon price. I was always clear on the costs and these were openly discussed.
Integrity and professionalism. Throughout the project, I was impressed with Richard’s commitment to generating a top-quality product and the professionalism of all his building team was outstanding.
Effective communication. Richard kept me closely informed of work crew schedules, delivery dates, and projected completion dates of different phases of our project. His communication (whether by cell phone or email) was always clear, informative, and helpful. He was either available on his cell phone, or returned my phone call asap. We never had a single miscommunication throughout the 10-month project. His communication with the work crews was just as effective.
In closing, I am very pleased with the final product which Richard was instrumental in delivering, and I am extremely impressed with his work as a building contractor.
In a world where shoddy workmanship and poor service are unfortunately all too common, Richard is indeed a rare find.
I believe that exceptional work should be recognised. I would not hesitate to engage Richard and the Radius team again on a future build, or to recommend him to my friends and neighbours. I recommend Richard and Radius Building to you most enthusiastically, and without any reservations.
